Involvement at massachusetts school of professional psychology, Now william james college
During my time at Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (MSPP) I have been able to get involved in the MSPP community. During my first year, I attended SCC meetings on a monthly basis. During these meetings, important issues concerning the school were discussed. Some topics that were covered included any issues with the new building, transportation, field placement difficulties, and different clubs and activities going on within the community. I also volunteered at a few of MSPP’s Open Houses to talk to prospective students about the program. These Open Houses were informative sessions for those considering the school psychology program for their future.
During my first and second year at MSPP I was able to be a part of the interview day. The first year I was a student ambassador and had the opportunity to get to know a vast group of prospective MSPP School Psychology student’s for the following year. I was given the opportunity to learn about them and answer any of their questions or concerns about the program as well as ease their nerves regarding the interview process. In my second year volunteering at interview day, I had the opportunity to be on the other end of the table as a student interviewer. During this process I was able to get to know each candidate on an individual basis as well as see the process and structure of the interview procedures. I also was a student buddy to an incoming first year student in the program during my second and third years in the program. Being a buddy allowed for me to reach out to incoming students, answer questions, and give advice to students entering into the MA/CAGS the program.
I have continued to try to stay involved in the MSPP community while doing my internship in New Jersey. I attended seminar when I was in Massachusetts. While I was visiting I also had the opportunity to attend an informative Community Forum presentation. I also want to continue to be involved in the MSPP community into my professional career by attending continuing education events when possible.
